About Us

P1030415

The Village Painters was formed in the mid-80s by a small group of decorative painters who were interested in sharing their craft with others.  They met in a church basement in Dearborn and chose the name partly because they were close to Greenfield Village.  We incorporated in 1987 and became a chapter of the National Society of  Decorative Painters on October 1, 1990.  The National Society of Decorative Painters dissolved in 2023 and with it our chapter, The Village Painters. We immediately incorporated as an independent nonprofit organization, Village of Decorative Painters, in the same year.

We have been meeting at the Livonia Senior Center for approximately the past 20 years and look forward to many more. We meet the first Saturday of every other month beginning with February. Our meetings start at 10 am with a social time before. We have an activity at the meetings and also sponsor usually at least two Big Brush artists yearly.  Visitors are very welcome.
