The Little Free Library

Freelibrar

In 2014 Pat Butler, one of our members, saw an article in a University of Wisconsin Alumni magazine about The Little Free Library (LFL) program and read that LFL’s were being installed around the United States. These LFL’s are a free book-sharing box where anyone may “take a book, leave a book”. These libraries can be installed in your yard, downtown, or anywhere around a city. There are now hundreds around the world! So Village of Decorative Painters was excited to take on the challenge and ordered their first set of plans from the Little Free Library  organization in Minnesota.

The Village Painters built, painted and installed their first Little Free Library at St. James Church in Houghton Lake, MI.

The second one was installed at Cass Community United Methodist Church, Detroit, MI

The third one was installed at a park in Detroit, MI

The fourth and fifth ones were installed at the Sandra Richardson Park in Saline, MI
